Western Digital presents DC HC620 hard disk with 15 TB capacity

Traditional hard drive capacities surpass each other year after year. Now through The Verge, we have discovered that Western Digital has introduced its Ultrastar DC HC620 model, which offers 15TB (terabyte) of storage capacity, exceeding the 14TB capacity limit of traditional hard drive models currently available on the market, like the model launched by the same company last year.

At the moment we don’t know at what price it will come on the market or when it will be available, although the media believe that this model will not be available to end users, not only because of the price, but also because the target audience could be the large data centers that need more storage capacity.

The Verge also points out that Seagate intended to launch a 16TB hard drive this year, an announcement it made last year, although nothing is known about this model at this time, and it is still a little over two months to the end of 2018.

In any case, it’s interesting to see how the storage capacity of traditional hard drives has evolved over the years by observing how the barriers to storage capacity are being overcome.
