Knives Out’, the popular Battle Royale from Netease Games and Tencent, could be one of the launch games for the PlayStation 5.
As Sony and Microsoft are still working on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X respectively, several publishers are developing the first video games that will take advantage of the new hardware. Of course, Battle Royale will be one of the proposals that will be available once the lifecycle of both consoles begins. After all, these are the most profitable titles in recent years.
Tencent, the Chinese entertainment giant, is one of the companies interested in launching a Battle Royale for the next generation, at least for the PS5. And the LinkedIn profile of the art director of Netease Games, a studio of Tencent, shows that they are currently developing a version of Knives Out for Sony’s new console.
Knives Out is a royal battle that has triumphed especially in mobile devices. In fact, it was the undisputed king of smartphones in 2018, as proposals such as PUBG Mobile and Fortnite were not getting off the ground at that time. Interestingly enough, the manager changed his profile description as soon as he discovered it; it is now “Sony PlayStation Console” instead of “PS5”.
An interesting point is that there was no mention of Microsoft hardware. This has led to speculation about a possible exclusive agreement with Sony. It should be noted that Tencent has not officially announced any games for the console. However, it is known that a large number of companies already have PS5 and Xbox Series X development kits.
Linkedin page shows that Knives Out, the battle royale game from NetEase, could also be coming to PS5 in addition to PS4.
The game is currently out for smartphones (global) and Nintendo Switch (Japan) with a PS4 release planned soon. https://t.co/4Z9iGkJjHa

There is currently a version of Knives Out for PlayStation 4 that is limited in some territories, with Japan the last country to receive it yesterday. This strategy has prevented its popularity on consoles from spreading to other regions of the world. However, as one of the launch titles on PS5, this scenario could change completely.
Tencent owns controlling stakes in Epic Games and PUBG Corp, which are responsible for Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) respectively. In other words, they have a monopoly on the battle royale, and it looks like Knives Out will be massive next.
