In recent years, demand for smartphones in the mid and upper price ranges jumped sharply due to emerging markets such as in India. As the demand for low-cost handsets increases, so does the need for SoC chips to accompany the devices. The Snapdragon 675 was recently announced to offer good mid-range performance, and on that day we were able to see some results from this chip at Geekbench so far.
Snapdragon 675 – Geekbench performance staged
Qualcomm’s 6xx chipset is promoted as the company’s mid-range offering and is often found in devices priced between $200 and $400. Last month, Qualcomm unveiled another mid-range SoC in the Snapdragon 6xx series: the Snapdragon 675. This is a close brother of the Snapdragon 670 and 710, but it is based on an 11nm node and features Qualcomm’s fourth-generation crystal core.
SD675 would be better than Snapdragon 710.
Although no OEM has officially announced a Snapdragon 675 device yet, GSMArena has managed to find one at Geekbench. At the moment we only know that the mysterious device works with Android 9.0 and has 4 GB RAM. We have to wait a little bit longer until OEM advances and takes responsibility for which phone it belongs to.
The higher score of one or more cores confirms that the device is powered by a Snapdragon 675. Qualcomm’s next-generation CPU cores make the difference and give it an advantage over the Snapdragon 710. The Snapdragon 675 uses the same 2+6 core design, but instead of 2x Cortex-A75, the 675 uses the new Cortex-A76 ARM cores. For unknown reasons, the SD675 uses a less powerful Adreno 612 GPU. However, Qualcomm says it’s been optimized to improve gaming performance, so actual performance is still to be seen.
