Intel roadmap: Core i9-10980XE, and Ice Lake X series HEDT processors are not expected before 2021

In April, Intel held a media release to reveal that a “massive” number of 10nm products will be released this year, including Jasper Lake processors, Tiger Lake processors, Ice Lake processors, discrete DG1 graphics cards, Snow Ridge 5G network system SoC, etc. As for desktop processors, it has been previously reported that the next generation Rocket Lake-S, which succeeds Comet Lake-S, will not be released until the end of this year at the earliest, but it appears that this rumor has not been true.

As for desktop-level products, it has already been announced that the next generation Rocket Lake-S will be equipped with a new CPU architecture (Sunny Cove or Willow Cove), although it will still use a 14nm process, which will give a new boost to long-lasting IPC performance.

Rocket Lake-S is completely out of shadow!

According to a webinar held by Intel and its partners that posted the product roadmap for the second half of 2020, it can be seen that the X series, S series, and H series are all “empty” in the third and fourth quarter dates, first, look at the Intel HDET audiophile X series, it says “Intel Core X series, X299 chipset, up to 18C” should focus on the current 9th generation. The latest 9th generation Core X series, the highest 18 core is the Core i9-10980XE, and the new Ice Lake X series HDET processors are not expected to be released before 2021.

Intel 2020 second-half product roadmap

The S-series is, of course, the consumer-class desktop processor that everyone is most concerned about, and we can see that Intel has released the “10th Gen K SKU, 400 Series Chipset, Up to 10C” in the second quarter, which is the Comet Lake S-series that was just released in May. According to the roadmap, the Comet Lake-S series will still be the key pillar in 2020, so the rumored Rocket Lake-S does not look like it will be released later this year, and I think we will have to wait until CES 2021 to get more detailed information.

Finally, the H-series for eSport laptops, the 10th Gen Comet Lake-H, also released in early April, will be in service from the first quarter to the end of 2020, while the 11th Gen high-performance mobile platform will continue to be based on the 14nm manufacturing process.
