A user named HXL was able to get a technical sample of the Core i9-11900 to see how it performs. Intel is getting ready to launch its new 11th generation Core processors “Rocket Lake-S” and there are already some chips running around in testing.
Intel Core i9-11900 appears in CPU-Z and we see its performance
Since this is a technical sample, it probably doesn’t work to its full potential, but it can give us a rough idea of its final performance.
The Intel Core i9-11900 has 8 cores and 16 threads, and the tests were performed using the CPU-Z application. The chip scored 582 points in the single-thread test and 5262 points in the multi-thread test. These results don’t seem to be very high.
The current Core i7-10700K scores 568 points in the single-thread and 5625 in the multi-thread test. These results may not be correct and probably have something to do with the clock speeds.
The engineering sample runs on some ‘low’ clocks. The base clock is 1.8 GHz with a boost of 3.8 GHz from all cores and a single-core turbo of 4.4 GHz. In the final version, these clock speeds will need to be increased and will easily exceed 5 GHz on a single core.
Intel is expected to launch its new generation of desktop processors “Rocket Lake-S” in early 2021 to compete with AMD’s Ryzen CPUs – a task that won’t be easy.
