Microsoft and the coalition have exchanged new technical details about Gears 5: According to the companies, the PC version will support Asynchronous Computing, Multithreaded Command Buffer, and the new AMD technology FidelityFX.
Asynchronous computing allows GPUs to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. This multitasking feature on the GPU improves the efficiency of graphical load balancing and visual effects, resulting in higher frame rates per second.
What do AMD asynchronous computing and FidelityFX technologies offer for Gears 5?
The multi-threaded instruction buffer ensures that CPU instructions reach the video cards faster. This results in higher performance, better graphics and reduced latency.
Finally, the coalition will add support for AMD‘s FidelityFX by updating it after startup. This functionality provides a dynamic quality filter that improves the sharpness of low contrast areas for a more detailed gaming experience. FidelityFX tries to improve image quality by counteracting smoothing by other post-processing effects.
Gears 5 will be released on September 10th. The game runs on Unreal Engine 4 and can be played on both Windows 10 and Windows 7.
