As the original GeForce GTX 1650 with GDDR5 memory was released, we’ve been seeing GDDR6 model listings for some time now, and Gigabyte was the first to make these new models official.
The company will release its GTX 1650 D6 Windforce OC (GV-N1656WF2OC-4GD) with dual fan cooling Windforce 2X and the GTX 1650 D6 OC (GV-N1656OC-4GD) with single fan for small rigs.
It’s to be expected that the heat sink is the same and the change in the cooling system is only aesthetic, but due to the change in the card’s memory, the board must be physically different, and it’s not known which GPU we’ll find in this card, as it could be a different GPU from the standard GTX 1650.
Both feature 12Gbps GDDR6 memory, as opposed to the 8Gbps GDDR5 of the original model, and have 50% more bandwidth than the original models. In terms of GPU frequencies, the Windforce OC has 1710MHz amplification, while the OC model has 1635MHz amplification.
It is not yet known whether these graphics use the same TU107-300 core or a new variant, although it is certain that they retain the same 896 Cuda cores, the only major change is their memory.
The GTX 1650 GDDR6 is assumed to be slower than the original GDDR5 at 1590 MHz on the GPU clock. This could be compensated with more clock memory, but there is still a lot of room for speculation about clock rates and thus performance.
Furthermore, it is not clear at this point when and for which markets the GTX 1650 will be launched with GDDR6 memory and from which board. So far only the gigabyte variants have been confirmed.
