Back in June, Apple presented some of the features that iOS12 brings with it in the latest issue of the WWDC Keynote. And now the Arkit 2 has been demonstrated by Apple in an official presentation. So we can now find new augmented reality experiences thanks to the features and tools of ARKit 2.
Apple’s New Innovative Ideas
ARKit 2 enables developers to develop the most innovative augmented reality-based applications with new tools to integrate shared experiences, location-specific persistent AR experiences, object recognition and image tracking, and make AR applications even more dynamic. Developed in collaboration with Pixar, the new file format “usdz” was also introduced, allowing you to deliver the AR experience virtually anywhere in iOS, even in apps such as Messages, Safari, Mail, Files and News that offer powerful graphics and animation capabilities.
Arkit 2 for Multiplayer Games
ArKit 2 is a developer platform that facilitates the integration of augmented reality experiences into their apps and takes advantage of iOS devices. As an example, developers can use 3D object recognition, image tracking, face recognition, shared experience, and other options that contribute to an immersive experience.
During the Apple presentation today, they demonstrated live the potential of this joint augmented reality experience with ArKit 2 and the amazing A12 Bionic chip. Alongside outstanding performance (6-core CPU and 4-core GPU), it will also add up to the potential of Apple’s artificial intelligence.
With this AI, users can transform their environment into an augmented reality experience with the iPhone camera irrespective of the dynamics of the game or the hardware requirements; whether it’s for a multiplayer video game (as shown in the picture above) or simply to analyze the effectiveness in basketball:
In live demonstrations during the event, they showed how the new iPhone offers more than just augmented reality experiences at the highest level.
