AMD holds over 50% global market share in the CPU sector

AMD confirmed in its latest results report that the company has been growing for 10 consecutive quarters (yes, 30 consecutive months due to the demise of Intel) and that its global market share in the premium CPU segment is already over 50%.

AMD market share continuously rising against Intel’s stock

“Customer processor profits have increased significantly year over year as strong demand for Ryzen processors has led to significant double-digit percentage increases in unit shipments and average selling price,” said Lisa Su at her recent investor meeting. “As a result, we believe we have gained market share in customer units for the tenth consecutive quarter.

She continued: “In the desktop segment, overall demand for our latest Ryzen 3000 and previous generation Ryzen 2000 was strong and both remain top performers, accounting for over 50% of premium processor sales at many leading retailers worldwide.

This demonstrates AMD’s strong leadership position in the processor market. AMD offers better value than Intel and the latest technology, including PCI-E 4.0, models with up to 64 cores, and more.

It will be interesting to see how the introduction of the new Intel Comet Lake-S continues, although it is likely that AMD will continue to lead the way because it still offers excellent value.
