Asus Launched Tinker Board, its specifications makes it a strong competitor of Raspberry Pi with almost double powered features and slightly increased price.
It has been rumored since a long time that single chip computers will be introduced in world to replace personal computing PC. This however will not be as powerful as today’s modern computers but hobbyists will surely enjoy these tiny computers. While talking about the physical dimensions of the Tinker Board, it still occupies the same space as Raspberry Pi even with enhanced performance and hardware. Arrangement of connectors and GPIO pins are even same as Raspberry Pi, but with the advanced board specifications that will allow doing projects in Tinker board that were impossible to implement in Raspberry pi updated version till now.

The main advantage is the faster processor that is Quad Core Rock Chip RK3288 1.8 GHz with Mali T-764 GPU. 2 GB of RAM and that provides complete support for hardware acceleration of H. 264 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
Comparing network connectivity Asus tinker board is equipped with strong Giga-bit Ethernet controller. While its sound system is also better than raspberry pi 3 which can support audio streams of 192 KHz/24 Bit, and interestingly for wireless communication there is a space for attaching extra antenna for better wireless connectivity. Disadvantages of New Device
There are only two disadvantages of this new Tinker Board; one is the increased power consumption. When CPU and GPU of this device are at its full processing it can have a maximum power consumption of up to 10 Watts. That would need heat sinks and cooling fans to operate it specially in hotter areas. The second drawback is the low software database. That is till now its operating system is based on only Debian. However it is expected that with time support for Linux Kernel and even Android 7.0 will also have a support on Tinker Board.

New Tinker board lands in market with a price of about 55 Euros. That is really competitive as of 35 dollars for Raspberry Pi new model with much lagging hardware and support. It’s up to developers to adopt this new competitor of Raspberry pi on basis of cost effective solutions or to take real advantage of more powerful features.
